Up above the world so high…like a tea tray in the sky

Sisters... we NEED you!!!!

Wanna bake loads of yummy stuff? Wanna practise your cupcake decorating skills? Wanna have fun with your fellow Sweet Herts Sisters? Wanna do all this AND raise money for a good cause? Well you can.... if you get involved in our first BIG Sweet Herts charity event!

Date: Saturday May 22nd
Time: 11am - 2pm
Venue: The Millbridge Rooms, Hertford (opposite Castle Hall Theatre.)

We’re going for a kitsch retro 50s theme to the event, so get out your cutest dress (or just stick a flower in your hair and some bright red lippy!) and we’ll deck out the room with pretty things and play some Rat Pack classics to really get the atmosphere going!

We need volunteers for:

· Baking and decorating cupcakes, brownies, biscuits, scones and all things sweet- you can deliver these to central drop-off points in St.Albans, Hatfield and Hertford, even if you can’t attend the actual event

· Setting up the event from 10am in the morning

· Making and serving tea, coffee and cakes at hourly slots on the day

· Flyering the streets of Hertford to get customers in- we have even recruited several Sweet Herts husbands and boyfriends volunteers so let us know if you have any willing menfolk to support!

· Spreading the word in advance- we have posters we can send you to help advertise what we’re doing in your places of work

· Coming on the day and enjoying a cupcake or two with family and friends

The Sweet Herts Sisters have decided to support The Eve Appeal through their charity work this year. In the UK, 18,000 women are diagnosed and nearly 7.500 women die of a gynaecological cancer each year. Awareness and funding for research of these cancers remain low and we would like to support their fundraising efforts to improve this. We were inspired by their initiative ‘Make Time For TEA’ which invites you to host a tea party to raise money for the charity. Their campaign is sponsored by the Redbush Tea Company who will generously be supplying us with a tea parcel for the event.

We will also have a raffle to support raising additional money for a 5 yr old girl in the local Hatfield area who is suffering from a brain tumour and is being treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital. If you have something lovely that you would like to donate to help with this- please let us know. A big thank you to Sweet Herts Sister (and talented jewellery designer) Kim Channon who ran last Sunday’s Bracelet Making Workshop and who has generously donated a unique handmade piece of jewellery for our raffle!

We would love to have as many of you as possible involved in making this event a success and raising loads of money for this charity. Please e-mail us with how you would like to help towards the day and we will send you further information. sweetherts@hotmail.co.uk

Let's show 'em what the Sisterhood can do!
